Elementary School Agreement

The agreement also includes a two-year “Student Assistance” fund, worth $89 million, which ETFO says will create about 434 teaching positions to tackle areas such as special education, English language learning and mental health initiatives. ETFO is the largest teachers` union in the province and represents 83,000 primary school teachers, occasional teachers and education professionals. In a statement Tuesday afternoon, Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce praised the union for ratifying the interim agreement and said the government`s main goal was to “reach a good deal” with teachers and unions. The province`s four teachers` unions have all signed preliminary agreements with the province.
